Gender equality and health in NHS Scotland:
Making gender equality fair for allNHS Health Scotland hosted a gender equality and health national conference on the 23rd February 2010 in Edinburgh, the first of it's kind in Scotland.
The focus was the Gender Equality Duty and its effect on the NHS in Scotland, exploring gender equality issues and themes the NHS can incorporate into future gender equality practice.
The aims of the event were to:
- invigorate the gender agenda in NHS Scotland
- increase understanding of concepts of gender equity and equality
- highlight examples of NHS board practice
- support the NHS to look at health topics from a gender perspective
The event was supplemented by a variety of parallel sessions focusing on service delivery and workforce topics, including gender based violence, mental health, transgender equality and gender budgeting.
